Evening walk at Außenalster!!

25.04.09(Saturday)

After we finished our dinner, we went to Außenalster or Outer Alster Lake, the big lake in the heart of the green Hanseatic city (Hamburg) is a paradise for yachtsmen, oarsmen or paddlers. During this spring time, after I finished my lecture and taking the S-Bahn back to my domitory, I see a lot of yatches on the lake. The lake is a popular meeting point for recreation and jogging. So I asked my dear to accompany me to take a short walk around the lake. It was a sunny evening and we enjoyed the nice scenary very much!! There were a few Segelschule (Sailing school) on the lake and the people also could enjoy drinks or ice-cream in the restaurant too. We also past through the Art museum in Hamburg which is situated next to the railway station.

Keukenhof revisited

18.04.09 (Saturday)

After two years, we went back to Keukenhof. It was again a single-day trip and we departed from Oldenburg at 7 am. We travelled with a different travel agency this time and the bus was much more comfortable. In fact it was a 5-Star bus-liner. The trip was not fully booked so there were still some seats left. The journey took more than 5 hours due to traffic jam in Holland. We were so anxious as we wasted so much time on the bus. At the end, we arrived at Keukenhof at around 12:30. We met our friend Seng Chuan, who arrived in Amsterdam just two weeks ago for pursuing his PhD there. It is really nice to be able meet an old friend from back home overseas after such a long time. Without wasting too much time, we headed into the park. The first thing we did was to look for a restaurant for lunch. We ended up in the same restaurant, where we had lunch two years ago. I even ordered the same food, roasted chicken with chips. Pwei order fish and chips, Seng Chuan went for the pasta. HKhee could only had a soup and sandwich as he has not been feeling well since a week ago. There were so much to talk about with Seng Chuan but we could not afford spending too much time in the restaurant as we travalled for 5 hours just for the flowers.

The park was very crowded compared to last time as it was a weekend. However, the weather was fantastic. Maybe because it was too warm the last few days, I have the feeling that the flowers were not as nice as two years ago. Beside that, the park did not change much since the last time we were here. HKhee said even that one should visit Keukenhof only every 10 years. I however think that it is really a wonderful experience to be surrounded by so many extraordinary beautiful and colorful tulips. As usual, we were busy taking photos. But since the whole garden was packed with visitors, it was really hard to catch some nice shots without snaping at the background somebody else also taking photo. Very funny indeed. We even have to queued at some popular spots to take a photo. In the oark, there was a bed of tulips of different colors. I must admit that it is not the most beautiful spot. Then some girls started to lay on the grass and posing for photos. Suddenly, everybody thought that it was a good idea and everybody started to lay down for photos. It was so funny and guess what ... we did the same. Haha... It was here Seng Chuan took the best photo of HKhee and I.

We had to leave at 5 pm and did not have enough time to go through the whole park. It was a pity but I think it was enough as we were so tired at the end. The experience was as wonderful as last time. This is an experience where I would never forget. On top of it, we had the chance to meet our old friend in Holland. We have promised each other to meet again soon.

Share some photos with you all here. Hope that you will like it.

Lunch at VAPIANO

11.04.09(Saturday)
We went for lunch this Saturday at this new restaurant in the town. It looks modern from outside and the interior is kept simple but stylish. We had no idea what we were expecting but seeing that the restaurant was quite full, we knew that the food would be ok. After entering the restaurant, each of us was given a card. We thought at first it is kind of promotional card as the restaurant is still new. After looking around, we realized that the restaurant is in fact a kind of fast food restaurant where one places the order at the counter and the food is prepared on the spot in front of you. The had a look at the menu and found only typical European fast food, salat, paste and pizza.
PWei and I ordered two pastas, mine one with fish and Pwei order the vegetarian pasta with egg, Tofu and bean sprouts, quite exotic. HKhee ordered a pizza with Italian spicy sausages. After ordering, we were asked to scan our cars we got when we entered the restaurant with a device. The orders were then saved on the cards for the bill later. Overall, the price of the food is ok, costing around 7-10 Euros. Not much to expect on the taste for this price. The pizza was the best.

New Semester is starting!!

06.04.09 (Monday)
It was here this whole week, the temperature fluatuated around 20°C, it was hot for me. Most of the people are wearing T Shirt to the university. During lunch time, most of the students like to sit under the sun enjoying their coffee break with friends.

This semester I am taking 12 subjects, including 2 law subjects - WTO Law and International Contract Law. After I discussed with my dear, he suggested me to drop 1law subject. Thus, I need to reschedule my timetable again. I hope I can manage well in this tough summer semester.

This semester I still have 1 subject (Corporate Social Responsibility) in german and my group presentation will be held on 28th April. Thus I need to find more information for preparing the presentation. Haiz...My busy study life is coming again. Since we are planning to go back home in August, so I need to finish all my assignments before August. Terrible....I hope I will achieve it, if not, we can't go back to visit our family and friends at home. Miss all of you very much!!

Traditional Dumpling (粽子)

02.04.09 (Thursday)

Even though DuanWu Festival is still some time away, I made some traditional dumpling this afternoon because my dear misses it very much. The recipe is adopted from Jo's Deli & Bakery. I just added belly pork, chinese mushrooms, chestnuts, dried shrimp and black-eyed/green beans without salt egg yolk. Share some photos with all of you!! The hardest part is to wrap everything together in a triangular shape. I learned this when I was young from my mother and my grandmother. HKhee tried but did not succeed. So he just stuffed in the filling and I wrapped and tied the dumpling together.
